On September 25, the 16th Forum of the World Association for Political Economy (WAPE) was held in Pingtan, Fujian province. At the opening ceremony, the Marxian Economics Award 2023 and the Distinguished Achievement Award in Political Economy for the 21st Century were granted. Professor Li Jianping, one of the first batch of the senior professors of Liberal Arts and former president of FNU, won the Marxian Economics Award for his significant achievements and outstanding contributions in the field of Marxist economics.

Professor Li Jianping delivered an acceptance speech in which he expressed his gratitude to the WAPE for granting him the Marxian Economics Award. He affectionately recalled his pursuit of Marxism, his strong belief in Marxism, and his unswerving quest for Marxist economics, and detailed his achievements in his consistent research on Marxism as a firm Marxist. This award is preceded by his winning the Distinguished Achievement Award in Political Economy for the 21st Century granted by the WAPE in 2012, and is also a second great honor for FNU after Chen Zheng, former president of FNU, a senior honorary professor of Liberal Arts, and a recipient of the “Most Beautiful Striver” Award, won it. It fully demonstrates the active efforts and important contributions theoretical economics of FNU, as an important role in undertaking Marxist economics teaching and scientific research in South China, has made in discipline construction and development, and academic inheritance and innovation.

It is learned that the WAPE is an open non-profit international academic organization, mainly voluntarily formed by the Marxist economists and related groups. Since 2006, it has successfully held 15 forums and has a high profile in the world. The WAPE grants the Marxian Economics Award and the Distinguished Achievement Award in Political Economy for the 21st Century every year by a vote of the WAPE Council and Marxists worldwide, with only 2 winners (one Chinese and one foreigner) selected for the Marxian Economics Award every year.
