From October 12 to 15, the 5th China College Students' 'Internet+' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Education of the PRC and other 12 authorities, was held at Zhejiang University. 4.57 million students and 1.09 million teams of 4,093 schools from 124 countries and regions in the world participated in the competition. Sun Chunlan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the event and watched it. Ye Shen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of FNU, led FNU teams to participate in the competition. With the project of A New Generation of Tumor Treatment Drugs in the World, the College of Life Science of FNU won the gold medal, which is the best result of FNU since its participation of the competition and stands for a breakthrough in this event; the project of the College of Physics and Energy, Smart price tag of cloud media, was awarded the Silver Medal.
The President of FNU Wang Changping went to visit the teachers and students participating in the competition at the scene, expressed his gratitude to them and congratulated the winning team for winning the honor for FNU. He said that the China ‘Internet+’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is a competition that of the highest standard, attracts the most attention and takes the lead in the whole country. In such a fierce competition, FNU teams calmly coped with the stresses of masters and performed outstandingly. He stressed that FNU teams should draw lessons from the past competitions, make more efforts to obtain achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship and strive to be the contemporary talents with comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics, and labor.
FNU teams returned on October 16. Li Baoyin, Secretary of the Party Committee of FNU, visited the teachers and students participating in the competition, and congratulated them on behalf of FNU. He said that after university competitions, provincial competitions and national competitions, the winning team finally made it to the national finals to compete with various masters, fully demonstrating the youthful spirit of FNU student, the thick historical accumulation of FNU and the remarkable achievements of moral education in FNU.
He emphasized that students should seize the chances brought by the innovation and entrepreneurship competition and comprehensively improve themselves in the splendid years of their youths. Relevant functional departments, colleges and teachers should draw lessons from the innovation and entrepreneurship competition to promote teaching and innovation. In order to nurture more contemporary talents with innovation and practical ability to assume the great responsibility of national rejuvenation, functional departments concerned, colleges and teachers should focus on nurturing talents in an all-round way, further deepen reform of education and teaching and strengthen institution building for innovation and entrepreneurship.
It is learned that a total of five projects of FNU were shortlisted for the national finals, and according to the results of online selections and evaluation meetings, two projects made it to the on-site final and three projects were awarded the bronze medal. In addition, the project of Red Passage—Focusing on the Publicity of the Red Culture and the Revitalization of Former Revolutionary Bases, awarded the bronze medal, put on a show by request in the recent annual meeting of the 12th China College Students' 'Internet+' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
