The conference, jointly hosted by Fujian Federation of Social Sciences, Fujian Philosophy Society, Fujian Dialectical Materialism Society, Fujian Historical Materialism Society and Fujian Association for Ethical Studies, and organized by College of Marxism of FNU, the Editorial Department of Journal of Fujian Normal University and the Editorial Department of Theory and Review, was recently held in Fuzhou. More than 200 scholars and postgraduates from many universities, including Xiamen University, Huaqiao University, FNU, Fuzhou University, Jimei University, Minnan Normal University, Fujian Jiangxia University, Fujian Provincial Committee Party School of CPC, and Hunan First Normal University, attended the event. Cao Jianbo, president of Fujian Philosophy Society and professor of Xiamen University, presided over the opening ceremony. Zheng Dongyu, member of the Leading Party Members Group and vice president of Fujian Federation of Social Sciences, and Chen Xiaohong, deputy secretary of FNU Party Committee, addressed the conference.
Prof. Li Jianping, chief expert of the Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project of the CPC Central Committee, senior professor of liberal arts and former president of FNU, delivered a keynote report, entitled “A Chinese Path to Modernization Is the Path We Must Take to Realize the Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation”. The Participants conducted in-depth discussions on the two themes of Basic Theories of Marxism in the 21st Century and Philosophical and Ethical Thinking on Chinese Modernization and New Forms of Human Civilization.
The experts and scholars present agreed that it is and will be the most important political task for the whole Party and the country to study, publicize and implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and that the proposal of Chinese modernization is a major theoretical innovation of the 20th CPC National Congress and also the latest major achievement in philosophy and social sciences. The conference, with an in-depth discussion on Marxism and new forms of human civilization in the 21st century, is of great significance to the scientific understanding of the scientific connotations of Marxism in the 21st century, and has also offered a platform for exchanges and learning among colleges and universities in Fujian province.
