The results of the 2022 Outstanding Song Selection for the China Contemporary Fine Songwriting Project “Hearing China, Hearing You”, hosted by the China Musicians Association, were recently announced. The work “Water Nourishes China”, composed by Wang Yuhang, a teacher from the College of Music of FNU, was selected as one of the 20 outstanding songs for the year 2022, standing out among 363 valid submissions.
Centering around water, “Water Nourishes China” expresses the deep love and high expectations of the people of Fujian for the new era. The song vividly showcases the passion and style of the people of Fujian as they embark on a new journey to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects. In February 2023, “Water Nourishes China” was included in the CCTV music channel special “Spring Symphony Concert 2023: Singing for the Spring”. Notably, it is the only song performed in the bel canto style among the 20 outstanding works selected this year, and it is also the only work selected from Fujian province.
