International Symposium on the Comparative Study of Music between China and Japan and the Study of Lkuma Dan’s Music Composition Held in Fuzhou

The symposium opened at FNU on May 17th, its core topics covering comparative study of  music between China and Japan, study of Lkuma Dans music composition and study of cultural exchanges between China and Japan. About 60 experts and scholars from more than 30 music schools and relevant departments in China, Japan, Singapore and other countries participated in the online discussion. In addition, teachers and students from different universities at home and abroad paid attention to and participated in the conference through the Internet.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Chen Chuxin, deputy director of Foreign Affairs Office of the Fujian Provincial Peoples Government, Ms. Kazuko Nagai, member of Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association (JCCEA), Prof. Yang Yandi, vice-chairman of China Musicians Association (CMA) and Prof. Chen Qinghua, vice-president of FNU, delivered a speech respectively, highly affirming Lkuma Dans outstanding contributions to the cultural exchanges between China and Japan and hoping to continue to strengthen the cooperation and cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries and cultivate more talents in the field of music.

On the evening of the 17th, in memory of Mr. Lkuma Dan, an online concert entitled The Concert of the Works of Lkuma Dan was held, conducted by the famous Chinese conductor Mr. Li Xincao and performed by the China National Symphony Orchestra.

The symposium was co-hosted by CMA, JCCEA, Fujian Musicians Association (FJMA), Sino-Japanese Music Comparative Study Association and FNU, and jointly undertaken by the Cross-Strait Cultural Development Collaborative Innovation Center and College of Music of FNU, with Chinese Peoples Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), and Fujian Provincial Peoples Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (FJPAFFC) as its backing units.

 The successful holding of the symposium is another major achievement of the comparative study of music between China and Japan, which reflects the focus on the field of cross-cultural comparative study and plays an important role in promoting the cultural exchanges and development of music between China and Japan.
