Ms. Arroyo, former president of the Philippines and now senior Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, has recently been appointed as a consultant of the Center for Philippine Studies of FNU.

At the China-Philippines forum in Manila on December 9, Mr. Huang Xilian, ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Philippines, presented Ms. Arroyo with a letter of appointment as a consultant of the Center. The Chinese and Philippine leaders of the Confucius Institute at Angeles University briefed Ms. Arroyo on the basic information of the Center and what the Confucius Institute has done in conducting Chinese language education and cultural exchange in the Philippines.

Ms. Arroyo expressed her willingness to actively support the development of the Center for Philippine Studies, shared her ideas on strengthening people-to-people and educational exchanges between China and the Philippines, and offered her constructive guidance to the Confucius Institute of Angeles University on how to continue the Chinese language training and cultural exchange programs for government officials.

It is learned that the Center for Philippine Studies in our university is a Belt and Road nationality research center of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. All along, the Center has made full use of its unique advantage of being located in the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, focusing on strengthening people-to-people exchanges and cooperations between China and the Philippines.
