FNU Co-hosts Sino-German Symposium on Re-examining Green Governance

The Sino-German Symposium on Re-examining Green Governance, jointly hosted by the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Beijing Representative Office and FNU, and co-organized by the School of Marxism of FNU, Fujian Ecological Civilization Research Association and the Theory & Review Magazine, was held in Fuzhou from November 30 to December 2.  

The opening ceremony was held on the morning of December 1. Lai Hairong, vice-president of FNU, and Paul Kohlenberg, chief representative of the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Beijing Representative Office, delivered a speech respectively. Lai made a brief introduction about FNU, the construction of Marxist theory discipline and the achievements made in ecological civilization construction in Fujian Province. In-depth discussions and the latest research achievements on display at the symposium on re-examining green governance, he noted, have played a positive role in implementing the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, pushing forward the ecological civilization construction and promoting a harmonious co-existence between man and nature.

Over 50 people attended the symposium, including experts and scholars from the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, the Sino-German Agricultural Center, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Harbin Institute of Technology, Soochow University, Shanghai Normal University, Nanjing Forestry University, East China University of Technology, Fuzhou University, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University and FNU, and representatives from the Ecological Office of Wuyishan Bureau for Development and Reform & Science and Technology and Fujian Association for Promoting Green Products. Prof. Xun Qingzhi of Peking University, delivered a keynote speech, titled Environmental Protection and Governance in China from the Perspective of Ecological Civilization Construction. The attendees conducted in-depth discussions on such issues as the opportunities and challenges of green governance, the theory and practice of ecological civilization construciton in China, global ecological crisis and its solutions, green theory and its international significance.
