The graduation ceremony was held at the East Athletic Field of Qishan Campus on the morning of June 18th. More than 8,000 people attended the event, including FNU leaders, heads of departments and divisions, party and government leaders of all the colleges, staff representatives, the counselors of the graduating class, all the graduates of 2021, some graduates of the class of 2020 who had returned to the campus and parents of some graduates. The ceremony was presided over by FNU Vice President Chen Qinghua.
In his enthusiastic speech, President Wang Changping shared his three reflections with all the graduates. Firstly, it is important for one to have aspirations, for aspirations are the beacons of one’s journey of life. He hoped that all the graduates will open their heart to patriotism, firmly set the aspiration of contributing to the country and serving the people, integrate themselves into the motherland, and strive more and achieve more for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation while remaining committed to the people and the country. Secondly, it is important for one to work with perseverance and working hard is the source of happiness. He hoped that all the graduates, with their confidence, courage and unremitting efforts, will pursue their dreams bravely, kindle the passion of youth, and accomplish something despite a variety of difficulties, and thus live a more colorful youth life with efforts. Thirdly, every line of business has its own norms, and innovation is the key to future success. He hoped that all the graduates will firmly have an innovative mind, remain curious about the unknown, think more, ask more questions and sum up experience whether in study, in employment or in entrepreneurship. He also hoped that in doing so all the graduates will constantly challenge themselves, push their limits and strive for a brighter future.
Vice President Zheng Jiajian read out the decision of FNU to grant the graduation and award degrees to the Class of 2021. Li Baoyin, Secretary of FNU Party Committee, presented appointment letters and alumni cards to the 2021 alumni liaison representatives. The graduate representatives from each college presented flowers to the staff representatives. Then graduate representatives read aloud the original poem Meet in Youth and Embark on a New Journey with great enthusiasm. Finally, all the graduates took a solemn oath and sang the Anthem of Fujian Normal University full of affection.
The degree awarding ceremonies were held at the Youth Theatre, the Library Grand Hall and the Assembly Hall on Qishan Campus. Li Baoyin, Wang Changping, Chen Xiaohong and Chen Qinghua, the leaders of FNU, turned the tassels for the graduates, and took photos with them. President Wang Changping fulfilled his promise he made to the Class of 2020 last year by holding a special degree conferring ceremony for more than 1,300 graduates of the class of 2020 who returned to the campus.
It is reported that during this year's graduation season, FNU has started a commencement microsite, carried out activities such as collecting micro-videos, and presenting academic gowns, and also specifically designed “graduation envelopes” and graduation badges as souvenirs with FNU characteristics for the graduates, thus creating a warm atmosphere rich in graduation culture.
