Recently, the follow-through training program for local Chinese Mandarin teachers for the 2021-2022 academic year, hosted by Republic of the Philippines Department of Education (DepEd) and undertaken by the Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation (AUF), officially opened. Jocelyn Andaya, Director of Secondary Education Division of DepEd, Riza C. Gusano, Officer of Special Program in Foreign Language (SPFL), Engr. Jose Macapagal Jr., Vice President of AUF, Jiang Xingshan, Dean of International College of Chinese Studies of FNU, Xu Lei, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at AUF, Pei Gang, foreign Director of the Confucius Institute, and nearly 160 local Chinese Mandarin teachers from more than 70 middle schools across the Philippines attended the opening ceremony online.

The Confucius Institute at AUF will offer a 2-hour follow-through training for local Chinese teachers in the Philippines every week in order to further strengthen the Chinese level and teaching competency of local teachers, and help them better adapt to and innovate online teaching methods in the new normal of the epidemic. In addition, two hours of tutoring per week, intended for answering questions about HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) and daily Chinese teaching, will be provided for the local teachers, who can choose whether and when to get it.

The Confucius Institute at AUF in the Philippines was established in early 2010 and is the first Confucius Institute co-founded by FNU. Since May 2011, the Confucius Institute at AUF has been the official partner of the Chinese Teaching Project launched by DepEd, and has been awarded as the Local Chinese Teacher Training Center.
