On January 15, Fujian Normal University (FNU) President Zheng Jiajian, together with Chen Xiaohong, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and President of the FNU Alumni Association, met with alumnus Hong Chengchen on the Qishan Campus. Hong currently serves as Director of the Organizing Committee for the 3rd and 4th China–New Zealand Mayoral Forum (2025–2027). During the meeting, he was appointed as an alumni liaison officer. Officials from the United Front Work Department (Alumni Association) also attended.

The university leadership warmly welcomed Hong back to campus, expressing sincere appreciation for his deep commitment to his country and hometown, as well as his lasting connection to and pride in his alma mater. They also provided an overview of FNU's recent progress and key achievements, noting that the university's development continues to benefit greatly from the strong support of its alumni.

As FNU enters a critical phase in its new round of "Double First-Class" initiative construction—coinciding with the early stages of the 15th Five-Year Plan—the leaders expressed hope for closer ties with alumni in New Zealand. They encouraged efforts to establish a New Zealand alumni association, which would serve as a vital bridge connecting overseas alumni with their alma mater. Such a platform, they noted, would facilitate exchanges and cooperation between FNU and various sectors in New Zealand, while also contributing valuable insights and support to the university's continued growth and international engagement.
