Recently, Associate Professor Yao Hurong and Professor Huang Zhigao of College of Physics and Energy of FNU, in collaboration with Researcher Guo Yuguo from Institute of Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), have proposed that the strategy of introducing proper Na vacancies into O3-type layered oxide cathodes can simultaneously improve the air stability and rate capacity of the materials. This simple and effective strategy, which can be easily realized by either pre- or post-treating, exhibits excellent universality for various O3-type materials, thus providing new insights into the commercial application of the high-rate O3 layered oxide cathodes. The work, entitled A Universal Strategy toward Air-Stable and High-Rate O3 Layered Oxide Cathodes for Na-ion Batteries”, was published in Advanced Functional Materials (IF=18.808), with FNU as the first organization, Yuan Xinguang, a master candidate at FNU, as the first author, and Yao Hurong, Huang Zhigao and Guo Yuguo as the co-corresponding authors. The work was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Key Project of Fujian Provincial Natural Science Foundation and the CATL Open Project.
