On May 29, Paulo Lopes, China Country Head of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), led a delegation to visit Fujian Normal University (FJNU). Vice President Ouyang Songying met with the guests, accompanied by officials from the University's International Office and the College of Photonic and Electronic Engineering.

In his welcoming remarks, Vice President Ouyang provided a comprehensive overview of the progress and achievements in FJNU's engineering discipline development and engineering education accreditation. He highlighted that FJNU is committed to a development strategy of "first-class liberal arts, high-level natural sciences, and distinctive engineering disciplines." Building on its traditional strengths in teacher education, the university is steadily advancing the construction of a distinctive engineering system characterized by the deep integration of teacher education and engineering, with the goal of cultivating outstanding international engineering talents who can meet societal needs and support enterprise development. He also noted that in recent years, numerous graduates have made their mark in engineering and technical fields both domestically and internationally, and have actively contributed to their alma mater by participating in practical training guidance, curriculum development, and industry-university-research collaboration.

Paulo Lopes expressed gratitude for the university's warm reception and congratulated FJNU on successfully passing the IET International Engineering Accreditation, emphasizing that this achievement fully reflects the university's solid foundation in engineering education. He then introduced the IET's development history, global network, and strategic presence in China, expressing interest in potential collaboration with the university on journal partnerships and award applications.

The two sides held in-depth discussions on expanding cooperation in areas such as engineer qualification certification and training, academic publishing and resource sharing, and talent cultivation and faculty exchange. Following the meeting, Paulo Lopes and his delegation visited the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education at the university's College of Photonic and Electronic Engineering.
