On September 30, Times Higher Education (THE) released its 2027 World University Rankings, in which Fujian Normal University (FNU) made significant progress. FNU was placed in the 1001–1200 band globally, an improvement of 200 places from its previous appearance. It ranked 74th among universities in Chinese mainland (tied), 7th among normal universities in China, and 2nd among provincially administered universities in Fujian Province.

With the release of this year’s THE rankings, all four major global university rankings—QS, U.S. News, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by ShanghaiRanking, and Times Higher Education (THE)—have now been published. FNU has secured a place in the main rankings of all four systems, becoming the first provincially administered university in Fujian Province to achieve this milestone. The achievement also places FNU among China’s leading normal universities, with only five normal universities in Chinese mainland featured in all four major global rankings this year.

From steadily securing places in global rankings to being included in the main rankings of all four major systems, this milestone reflects the significant progress FNU has made in its pursuit of “Double First-Class” university development. It highlights growing international recognition of FNU’s overall institutional strength, teaching and research excellence, and global influence. It also underscores the rich academic heritage of this century-old normal university and its high-quality development trajectory, marked by continuous improvement in academic standing and institutional excellence.
