专家简介:I received my PhD degree in Cell Biology from Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013, where I focused on the structural and functional studies of disease associated proteins. In the same year, I joined UT Southwestern Medical Center as a postdoctoral fellow. Under the guidance of my PhD supervisor, Dr. Zhi-Jie Liu, and my postdoctoral mentor, Dr. Xin Liu, and with the trainings received in their labs, I have accumulated essential knowledge for transcriptional regulation and chromatin biology in eukaryotes and a unique set of expertise for reconstituting and carrying out structural, biochemical, and cellular studies on macromolecular assemblies. My interests lay on the biological roles of regulation of higher order chromatin structure, which determines eukaryotic transcription status and is highly related to human diseases. The molecular bases for these processes are still mysterious and have a splendid future providing new insights of the drug discovery and therapeutic intervention. I solved the first crystal structure of an active Polycomb repressive complex 2, which represses transcription by modifying histone tails and altering chromatin structure and is a key epigenetic regulator of development. The structure dispels some long-standing mysteries of PRC2 function and regulation and provides potential therapeutic insights.
