专家简介:Dr. Hanry Yu is a professor of physiology and mechanobiology at the National University of Singapore, and a group leader at the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, A*STAR. He studied for PhD at the Duke University in Cell Biology, and Postdoc at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany where key optical microscopes were developed and applied in biomedical sciences. Dr. Yu ventured into biomaterials, tissue engineering, computation and systems biology, and mechanobiology; and published extensively in these interface areas. He consults for various international and national agencies and companies. He filed over 40 patents and founded 3 companies and 3 interdisciplinary PhD programs. He was a visiting professor at MIT 2008-2014, and is a handling editor of Biomaterials.

报告摘要:Liver regeneration and diseases such as fibrosis and non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases are important processes inside the body that are characterised by spatial information which can be quantified by imaging tools such as non-linear optics in vivo and ex vivo. We have adopted a systematic approach involving combination of hardware adaptation, image-based feature extraction and machine learning-based classifiers on animal models and patient samples, to define different steps and stages of normal liver regeneration and abnormal disease states. Such a new approach helps elucidates mechanistic insights on how normal process works and how disease states can be accurately quantified. We wish to stimulate similar applications of imaging tools in a wider range of biomedical studies.
